Study visits

In October and November 2008 IFES representatives participated in two study visits. The study visits took place within the European program Lifelong Learning – Key activity 1.1. For both activities the host organization was CNAM Pays de la Loire, a partner organization with IFES in other European projects too.

Ms. Stefania Isaila took part in the first study visit, which had as a topic the necessity of lifelong learning for an activity field so that it remains competitive in the context of global competition. The visit took place in Cholet region, near Nantes, and the participants got to see the research network and production facilities for kids’ shoes in the area. Design workshops, research and test labs, production sites and centers for lifelong leaning were visited.

Getting to know the way in which the scientific and technical culture is disseminated in Pays de la Loire region was the objective for the second study visit. Mr. Silviu Ispas represented IFES. Museums and cultural-scientific spaces were visited. Meetings with representatives of local authorities, editors of local and regional publications which popularize the scientific culture, researchers and consultants were organized. The significant benefit that this type of activities brings to the sustainable development of the community was pointed out.
