Launching of the strategic project “Permanent Technical Secretariat of the North Western Regional Pact for Employment and Social Inclusion” (PTS-NW)

On the 26th of January 2009, the Social and Economic Training Institute (IFES) launched, within a press conference, the strategic project “Permanent Technical Secretariat of the North Western Regional Pact for Employment and Social Inclusion”, which pertains to the Operational Structural Program for the Development of Human Resources (OSPDHR).

The project is financed by the European Commission and by the Romanian Government. It aims at facilitating investments in the human capital in the North-West region, in the context of a dynamic labor market, a market influenced both by regional programs meant to favor the economic growth, and by the effects of the financial crisis.

The project’s general objective is to develop an independent operational structure, called the Permanent Technical Secretariat North West (PTS-NW), as a tool to support the Regional Pact for Employment and Social Inclusion in the North West Region and its associated organizations (unions, employers’ associations, sectorial committees, NGOs, local partnerships for employment and social inclusion) so that they develop and promote common initiatives within local communities.

The launching event was attended by Mr. Silviu Ispas (IFES) – the PTS-NW project manager, and by representatives of partner institutions: Mr. Grigore Pop – president of Cartel ALFA, Cluj branch, Mr. Augustin Fenesan – president of the Employers and Craftsmen’s Association, Cluj, and by Mr. Cristian Dogaru – executive director of the Regional Intermediate Body SW.

The Cluj media showed interest in the project and, consequently, it had a good coverage at local and regional level.
