Launching of the CORE strategic project in the North-West region

On the 8th of July 2010, the launching conference for the “CORE – Correlating labour market demands and workforce in the South-West Oltenia and North-West regions” strategic project was organised in Cluj-Napoca, by IFES. The project is financed by the European Union through the POSDRU82/5.1/S/58992 programme.

The project’s promoter is CCMP EUROPROJECT, in partnership with S.C. Pirelli Tyres Romania S.R.L. (Slatina), S.C. Prysmian S.A. (Slatina), S.C. ALRO S.A. (Slatina), IFES (Cluj), APM (Cluj) and FLC (Milano – Italy).

At the launching conference participated various partners’ representatives, local media and representatives of other relevant institutions like the County Employment Agency – Mr. Daniel Don, and The City Council – Mrs. Steluta Racolta, who wanted to great the large scale of this project.

During the event the project’s objective, namely improving the competencies of over 1638 unemployed in the two developmental regions, and its results were presented:

• Creation of two Employment Centres providing services to boost employment in the North-West and South-West Oltenia regions;

• Information and awareness raising campaign organised in both regions, to support the unemployed in their integration/reintegration on the labour market;

• A study report on the existing correlation between labour market demands and supply in the South-West Oltenia and North-West regions;

• The publication “Best practices and success stories in the employment and training sector”;

• 350 members of the targeted group informed and carrier counselled;

• 812 participants in professional training programmes, approved by CNFPA.

The topicality of the social issues raised by the project’s objectives leads to its anchoring in the economical reality of the two regions.
