IFES attended the EZA Youth Conference at Esposende (Portugal), in 21-25 October 2009

CFTL Portugal organized the second EZA Youth Conference, under the slogan “Nothing for the youths without youths”. The works of this conference focused on three key topics related to the integration of youths on the European labor market in the 21st century: migration and mobility, lifelong learning and social participation.

Approximately 70 participants coming from all over Europe, representing the EZA member organizations, tried to work out, within the various workshops, the major intervention lines for the current challenges. Our colleague, Stefania Isaila, member of the youth initiative group within EZA, coordinated the panel dedicated to the migration of the labor force.

The most significant result of the meeting is the setting up of the EZA youth platform, which represents the outcome of the efforts made in the last two years by the initiative group. Meant to represent the youths’ free expression, created by the youths for the youths, the platform aims at presenting the young workers’ problems to the European decision makers, at improving the working conditions and at supporting their active social involvement.
